LEONARD ANSON BONNEY: Post Office

POSTMASTER

The post office was established in Eastman township.  On 17 Feb 1864, Leonard A. Bonney received the appointment as postmaster.  This office was located on the Lyman Balk farm.  Mrs.  Bonney served as postmaster, because her husband had joined the Northern Army during the Civil War.  When the post office at Batavia was discontinued, the new combined post office of Eastman was established in the Village of Eastman with Mrs. Leonard Bonney as postmaster.
